2024 is going to be epic. We are on the verge of a massive cultural shift that will highly favor divergent thinkers and those of us with curious ADHD minds.
More people are starting to notice this explosion of the creator economy and 2024 is going to be the year that it becomes glaringly obvious, even to those who aren’t paying attention.
I came across a Rolling Stone article published this month titled “The Future Belongs to Impact-Driven Creators: The Shift in the Creator Economy” and it confirms that there is a real life changing opportunity for us to create a dynamic life for ourselves in the digital age.
“For many, the allure of the creator economy is the promise of autonomy. It’s a realm where creators are their own bosses, directly communicating with their audiences, and most importantly, crafting their narratives. In essence, it offers both creative and financial freedom”
Now, you might be thinking, “that sounds great Tony, but why would I start making content now that everyone and their mother is doing it?”
Yes, the creator economy is entering a boom phase because more people are making content. There is an increase of information that cannot meet the demand of our limited attention.
As a result, its becoming increasingly more difficult for people to integrate the knowledge that they encounter among the endless sea of entertainment.
Enter, the synthesizer.
A synthesizer is an independent divergent thinker and self-directed learner who leverages digital literacy to synthesize and share knowledge through digital mediums by writing, distilling, and creating educational content.
In the age of information, the synthesizer provides value to others by effectively communicating their curiosities, explorations, knowledge and insights. This creates a pattern interrupt that cuts through the never-ending stream of entertainment and memes that add no value to anyone’s life besides cheap dopamine hits.
“Shifts in technology and human behavior are creating the need for “synthesizers” – people who can filter through the ambient noise being generated in fast-moving business environments and distill thinking into clear and actionable insights, ideas and strategies – which ultimately informs creative and innovative problem solving.”
―David Armano, visual thinking expert
Is it sounding like being a synthesizer is the true calling in life that you never knew was possible? That’s exactly how I felt when I had this realization.
For years I had been trying to force myself into the rigid structure of the specialist career path, struggling to find the 1 thing that I could focus my efforts on long term. I felt like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole.
The creator economy flips that all on its head. Now, the future belongs to the synthesizers―the impact driven divergent thinkers and polymaths―the creative minds who’s life pursuit is to simply explore their boundless curiosity and share their passions with the world.
I am beyond excited to be part of this journey with you all.
